One way to maintain development versioning control is to use Visual Source Safe (VSS). VSS will allow a developer to check-in and check-out development files such as Cognos Report Studio’s xml report schemas. The reports that are developed in Report Studio are essentially xml files that can be opened locally by a Cognos Report Studio developer.
This can also aid a team of developers in adding notes or comments when they check in their working file. The notes can be referenced to help identify any recent changes or updates that were applied to the report.
